My art style in general is drawing realistic pencil sketches. When I sketch, I usually sketch both still life and living things. I try to draw exactly like the reference picture. I also look at my reference several times before starting sketching and continue looking at my reference while sketching to make sure that my sketch looks exactly like my reference. Painting is not what I am best at, but it was kind of a nice experience for me to get out of my comfort zone and try painting once again. My art style when I paint is mostly the same as when I sketch. I tend to look at my references several times to make sure that my artwork is pretty similar, if not the same as my reference picture. Changing the color of my painting while keeping the overall shape of my painting the same as the reference picture is what I tend to do to make my paintings my own. The person who I am very inspired by and who influences my work is Ali Hither. Ali Haider is a phenomenal artist who makes youtube videos showcasing his art as well as giving online tutorials on how to sketch. His art is mostly sketches of human faces and still-life objects. I am influenced by his art because I just can't get over t how good his sketches are. For example, if he sketches a person staring, his artwork of the person’s face will look so original that you would feel the eyes of the person he drew staring right at you. This is the reason why I am so influenced by the artist and what to be just like him when I grow up. Some of the methods of my artwork that I have decided to show at the Celebration of Learning are my Rowley ghost town video, my structure which we will be doing next week and lastly, I will also showcase one of my paintings which I am working on right now. I will showcase my Rowley video because it clearly showcases my style of knowledge of different camera angles, and my editing skills. I will showcase structure because it will showcase my understanding of using clay and making stuff out of it. And lastly, I will showcase my painting that I am working on right now, to show that when I paint, I keep the overall shape of the object that I am drawing, but change the colors of the object to make the painting my own. Something that I learned about art this semester on my own is that when you paint with a brush with hard bristles, it will leave marks on the canvas you are painting on. While on the other hand, if you use a softer brush, your painting will be a lot smoother and it will give you a smooth end result. One more thing that I learned this semester is that if you use a sketch pencil on top of an oil pastel drawing, it will take the layer of oil pastel underneath off. My favorite piece of art that I have created so far this semester is the pencil drawing I made using oil pastel. Because it was done on a black piece of paper, the color of the oil paste really made the drawing pop and appealing to the eyes. Another reason why it is my favorite drawing is that it’s colourful and the pencils in the drawing actually look 3D. When you look at it for a second it actually looks like there are pencils placed on top of a black sheet of paper. If I could change one thing about this piece of art, it would be the size of the pencils, because the pencils are kind of small as compared to the paper, like there is a lot of blank space in the picture which I could have easily used to draw on. There wasn’t much that surprised me while making this piece of art, but one thing that did surprise me was how bright and vibrant my art was looking on that black piece of paper. I was actually expecting my art to look dull because of me drawing it on a darker surface, but It actually came out better than I expected. And that’s all I want to share about my artwork, and believe that I am not missing out on anything before wrapping this all up.
